Govt Releases 2024 School Calendar; Half Term & Holidays

The Ministry of Education, on Friday, released a 42-week education calendar for pre-primary, primary and secondary school students.

According to the ministry, the schools will open for Term One on January 8, 2024, and run for a period of 13 weeks before closing on April 5, 2024.

The students will proceed on a three-day half-term break from February 29 to March 3, 2024.

Subsequently, they will head home for a three-week holiday from April 8 to April 26 at the end of the first term.

Following the long holiday, the students will resume school for the second term on April 29, 2024. Thereafter, they will break for the half-term holiday from June 20 to June 23, 2024.

The second term will run for 14 weeks before ending on August 2, 2024.

According to the Ministry of Education, the final term will commence on August 26, 2024, and run until October 25, 2024.

During the term, the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations will be held from October 28 to October 31, 2024.

Conversely, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates will sit exams from November 4 to November 22.

Thereafter, the students will proceed on a long holiday from October 28 to January 3, 2025.

On the other hand, the Teachers’ training colleges will open for the first term on January 8, 2024, and end on April 5, 2024. The long holiday will last for four weeks in the month of April.

Term Two will commence on April 29 and end on August 2, with the holidays scheduled for August 5 to August 30, 2024.

The final term will run from August 26, 2024, to November 8, 2024, and thereafter break for the long holidays from November 11, 2024, to January 3, 2025.
