Gripping and suspenseful, ‘Rope’ returns for final Carson City weekend performances

Returning for its final weekend where theatre goers are transported into a live, black and white world of suspense and intrigue, local troupe Proscenium Players, Inc., rounds out Friday, Saturday and Sunday with “Rope,” a gripping play originally created by Patrick Hamilton and later transformed into a cinematic masterpiece by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock.

Performances are this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. All shows will take place at the Brewery Arts Center’s “the Maizie” theater, 449 W King St, Carson City.

Carson Chamber Singers present ‘Joseph and James’ concerts Oct. 20 and 21

Carson Chamber Singers, a 40-member chorus directed by Dr. Gary Schwartz, present Joseph & James on Friday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 200 N. Division Street in Carson City, and on Saturday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m., at Epworth United Methodist Church, 280 E. Stillwater Ave., in Fallon.

Fall open burning in Carson City begins Saturday with permit

The Carson City Fire Department announces the start of the Fall 2023 Open Burn, with burning allowed from Saturday, Oct. 21 through Dec. 17, 2023 dependent upon permit status and daily weather conditions.

As the winter season approaches, Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition program is in need of new youth coats (boys & girls – all sizes) and new teen/junior sweatshirts and jackets (all sizes) for the winter season. The community-driven initiative aims at ensuring all students have access to warm clothing during the cold months.
